Day 28: Stockholm❤️ Part 2 🇸🇪

A Loop Walk!

Having seen most of the sites of interest to us yesterday, we decided to just step off the ship and see where our feet took us.

We thought that perhaps something up top of this hill might be nice.
Across the bridge and heading west.
A bit of stair climbing was in order.

We managed to find a lookout point with great views of the city.

Our floating hotel.
We would eventually find our way to these colourful buildings.

Once we had walked through the residential neighborhood on the hill and learned a bit more about the community, we walked back into the city core. We just basically followed the locals.

Great walking paths along the foreshore took us to city hall. Comparatively young, it was completed in 1921.

The annual dinner held to honour the Nobel Prize recipients is held here at City Hall.

Great view! We had been walking on the far side earlier today.
The gate from city hall to the water.

Looking back towards Old Town.
Fall is here! Drops to 5-6° at night. It will definitely be warmer at home! Nice colours though.
Our feka today. Much better with the traditional cinnamon roll !
Everyone was waiting for a very slowly developing sunset. One of us became distracted.😅
Slowly the sky signalled that perhaps this was not our night. People began to wander away. We had decided to eat aboard tonight, and we went back onto the ship.
AM finally found Swedish meatballs! She was a very happy girl. I selected the salmon which was wonderful!
While we were eating there was finally a burst of colour!

This trip was a taster and a chance to recover a little after the lead up to and celebration of Caitlin and Paul’s wedding. Paul’s parents are doing the same with a trip to Spain and a nice Mediterranean cruise from there. Bet it will be a much warmer experience!😂

As is our practice, as we ate our last meal of the trip we discussed the best and least best from our travel. We both agreed that Scandinavia has some beautiful cities. For me, Copenhagen was my favourite followed by Stockholm as a close second. AM preferred Stockholm. I think if we were to come back that we would focus on travelling the West Coast of Norway and up across the Arctic Circle. However, that’s up for discussion and a possible future travel. In the meantime we have tentative thoughts about other travels in 2025. No doubt the options will receive a bit of scrutiny before decisions are finally made.

From here we head back to Vancouver via Frankfurt beginning very early tomorrow morning. Our hosts have promised us a breakfast to take with us. We have also sourced a shorter walk to the train station than Mr Google was able to recommend. That’s the third time this trip that Google has messed up! What’s that about, right?

We arrive in Vancouver mid afternoon and we will Uber to New Westminster to pick up our car. On Friday morning we drive up to Revelstoke for a Saturday wedding and then back to Vancouver on Sunday for two birthday parties! Yup, of late our lives have been like this!😅 No complaints, but it will be nice to be home for a while to see family and friends.

That’s it from here. As always thanks for your support! Hope you had a bit of fun along the way.
