Day 25: Barcelona to Roermond!πŸš‰πŸ›«πŸ›¬πŸš„

Yes, switching gears yet again. From Spain to Holland with a Ryan Air budget flight. However, we do have access to an airport lounge for lunch and while we wait!

We really enjoyed our time in Barcelona and personally I’m very pleased to have returned. Walking the streets of the city gave us a good feeling about Barcelona. It should have as we’ve walked over 38km during the past two days!😳 I’m very comfortable in the heat, but Annemarie can’t wait to get out of here and into the cooler Dutch climate. I think she’s been counting the minutes! I will definitely miss the hot sunny days, the vibrant colours, wandering in the warm evenings and of course the glow of the Mediterranean sky.

As today is more or less a straight forward travel day I thought I’d post a few other photos from our time in Barcelona.

As mentioned we have walked the streets of Barcelona for hours investigating passageU ways both wide and narrow. I wonder how many months it would take to walk them all?

Annemarie checking things out.
Wash day.
Small neighbourhoods all cobbled together with a little overlap. .
Small charming squares, this one with an old city well.
Others that reminded us of smaller versions of Plaza Mayor in Madrid. We stopped here for a cool drink and enjoyed watching the largely local foot traffic.
Then there were the long wide boulevards that reminded me of Paris in the summer.
This one with a triumphant arch!
A closer look.
With tall interesting towers emerging above the trees.
There were castles too! This one was called The Three Dragon castle.
Main mall through Los Rombas.
We walked to see some of Gaudi’s other creations.
We never joined the long lines to go in though I expect that if you had the time it was very interesting.
We stopped for lunch just down the street from this one and visited with a nice couple from Belarus.
Always fun to walk along to see what pops up!

Late morning we took the airport bus as it was quite a bit cheaper than the metro and much quicker. I admit that I was a bit surprised by that.

Now sitting in an airport lounge in T2. We came out a bit early to get through security, and now we are enjoying some quiet time with a nice lunch. A better way to travel if one has access. Right Rob?

Mythical Wildlife?
Window shopping is just part of the fun. Carrot cake I presume?

So that’s about a wrap for Barcelona. One of the top 30 most visited cities on Earth. It was a busy place!

Caio,

Geoff
