Day 20: Alghero – No Wheels!

Last night we went out for a simple but nice spaghetti dinner in the city square below the castle. On our way back to our place I noticed that the clouds had covered the harvest moon with great effect.

This morning our host served us an unusual breakfast with the tomatoes, basil and olive oil coming from his ‘garden’. What a delight! Would never have thought about this for breakfast.

Once we’d said our goodbyes it was off for a last day with Bear. We drove SW across Sardinia to the coast. Not many opportunities to stop, but I snapped a few photos when I could.

Ground fog was evident in several areas early on.

Needless to say, Michelin said this road was not scenic which means that we found it very scenic! Seems to have been the trend for us on Sardinia.

While our destination was Alghero, we had planned a stop a Bosa about 55 kms south of Alghero on the coast. We arrived, found a good place to park then went to see what we could see on a Saturday.

Bosa is a beautiful town with a castle to boot!
A beautiful setting with the port just a few km downstream.

We watched a couple marry. Always fun in another country!
The escape vehicle!

Just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean

After lunch we started north along a beautiful coastline. They are all so beautiful!

We drove on to Alghero ‘s airport only stopping to fill up Bear before dropping him off. We said our goodbyes then caught the city bus back into town. Everything went very smoothly. It’s always nice to return a rented car. We will miss the flexibility it has afforded us, but there is also some peace of mind when it’s safely returned.

We are staying in the old town until late afternoon Monday before flying onwards to Barcelona. We are off for a walk now and I’ll report further tomorrow.

Ciao!
