Day 17: 115.385% Hotter!🌞

I like travel days because they are transitioning from one thing to another. We had fun in our last location, but I was ready to move on. I don’t like to stay in one place for too long particularly when there are places to go and new people to meet.🙂

Last night on our way to have a sushi dinner we ended up at an interesting little Italian restaurant and enjoyed a really nice meal. The servings were small, but the food was excellent! I guess we were feeling a bit spontaneous, right?

The wine was very good too!

This morning after a very nice breakfast we said goodbye to our host who is a really nice guy. Very helpful. we packed up Bear which takes about 30 seconds, plotted our route and took off, destination Maddalena. We first travelled some windy side roads which led us to the main highway, running up Sardinia‘s east side. We made pretty good time moving along at about 90-100 km per hour. Bear was also ready to move on!🙂

We arrived in Palau mid-morning and filled up Bear at a petrol station (CDN$3/litre) before finding the ferry to take us across to Maddalena (€43 return). As usual, nothing is quite straightforward in Italy. We drove up to the ferry wharves and were told that we required a ticket. The fellow indicated to a building, but told us we could pull into the ferry lineup. The ferry started loading as Annemarie hurried over to the ticket building.

Other people were doing the same and I moved up the car carefully moving around others that were left empty as their owners went in search of a ticket.

It was all kind of funny. Annemarie eventually hurried back, but by then I could see that the ferry was still tied to the wharf. So no worries, we made it.

Bear with friends!

We are now off in search of a beach as we are hoping for a nice cooling swim as it’s about 28° here today. I will finish this later.🙂

Our accommodation on the mid-floor with balcony on the right.
Our view late afternoon where I’m currently enjoying a 🍺 while writing this post after our cooling swim.

After we were settled in we decided to go for a walk and look for a light lunch. I’ve been collecting bronze figures which are usually life-size during my travels for at least the last 15 years. I have a file at home and this fella will be added to said file.

A new member of my bronze people collection!

The Harbour was actually quite beautiful with a good collection of pleasure craft, tour, boats, and traditional fish boats. There was also a huge number of police and Coast Guard boats. It’s too far north here for refugees coming in, but there is clearly a reason. Corsican pirates?

My friend Dennis would like this. Frankly my father would too!

We did eventually find a decent place to swim. Our navigation system got a bit messed up, but we found a nice cove. only a couple of people there swimming. Very nice!😎

I might have said that we are here for two nights. Tomorrow we will tour the 20 km around this island in search of some of the more spectacular beaches and we will also look at the adjacent island for similar places. For sure there will be a swim or two. I’ll report on our successes tomorrow. I think the real vacation portion of this travel begins here.🙂

You might be asking yourself about the blog title. I was looking at the weather at home and I began thinking about how much warmer it is here, and then of course I needed to calculate the difference. My friends know that I enjoy hot weather more than cool weather. That’s no secret. Well today it’s 115.385% warmer here than at home.😎 Don’t worry, I’ll be home soon enough raking up the damn oak leaves and the record numbers of acorns. For now though, I can revel in in this knowledge. Happiness is.😊

Cheers!
