A New Blog!

Via Francigena – Arriving in Rome after almost 3 months.

Welcome to my new blog! I’m pleased to see that you’ve found your way here!

Like many others I’ve lost all the photos (Blogger and BlogTouch) from my recent May/June, 2023 walk along the Way of St. Francis to Rome that were posted on my Walking Our Camino(s) blog https://caminotime.blogspot.com/. I’ve been trying to determine what happened to them, but my efforts to sort things out with Google and BlogTouch have been largely fruitless. Thankfully it appears that the many posts from my previous distance walks and travels posted on my 3 other blogs have remained intact. However, I’ve decided that after some 14 years of enjoyable blogging with Blogger and BlogTouch that it’s time to move on. There are many blogging platforms out there, and after a bit of research I’ve decided to go with WordPress because it seems to have a history of stability. There is an annual fee, but I’m prepared to pay it because the platform has a long history and comes with ‘help’ support.

You will see a different look to my new blog and also a fresh name, Wandering and Wondering!. I plan to use this blog for my future walks as well as other travel adventures as I know that my distance walking passion has a limited number of years left (though thankfully I’m not there quite yet). I’m hopeful that my passion for travel will continue on long after my distance walking days are over permitting me to continue to write and post photos which WordPress calls the Art of Visual Story Telling. After all, there is another generation rapidly coming along behind me who perhaps one day might enjoy reading about a few of their PaG’s adventures. I’m guessing that the world they are growing into will make my experiences appear a bit old fashion in much the same way stories from other’s travels during the 18th and 19th centuries appeared to me. Funny how this happens with the passing of time!

I’m still trying to sort out how WordPress works and get familiar with the app. Please hang in as I go through a learning process. I think it’s going to take a little practice!😊

My blog layout will evolve, but I wanted to have something ready for our imminent travel to Corsica, Sardinia, Barcelona and Holland. As usual there will be some walking, but this trip is more about a travel than a distance walk. That will have to wait until next spring, and I’ll post more about this during our winter once I have time to sort through various options.

Just 2 weeks and we are on our way!
